ARNOVA25 Conference: Submission Deadlines Extended!

The deadline for paper proposal submissions to the 54th Annual ARNOVA Conference has been extended! Non-members may now submit until May 22, while ARNOVA members have until May 29.

This year’s theme, "The Evolving Role of Philanthropy in Global, National, and Local Contexts," invites us to explore how philanthropy is transforming across sectors and scales. Key topics include:

  • Philanthropy and Government: Examining shifting public-private dynamics, accountability, and social innovation.
  • Philanthropy and the Nonprofit Sector: Investigating donor influence, resource dependency, and mission integrity.
  • Critical Perspectives and Power Dynamics: Analyzing race, class, and gender in philanthropic leadership and strategy.
  • Globalization and Localization: Balancing global ambitions with local needs and cultural contexts.

We welcome submissions that speak directly to these topics as well as those that broaden our understanding of nonprofit and voluntary action more generally.

📍 Conference Dates: November 20-22, 2025

Governance Section to Hold National Virtual Dialogue on May 28 @ 12 PM EDT

Join ARNOVA’s Governance Section for a virtual insightful discussion on Nonprofit Governance Under Pressure, featuring Kelly LeRoux (University of Illinois, Chicago) and Lisa Weiner-Mahfuz (Executive Director, RoadMap Consulting).

As executive orders and political efforts increasingly target diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), nonprofit funding, immigrants, and political advocacy, nonprofit boards and governance structures are being called to respond not only to threats to their organizations and coalitions, but to the communities they serve.

This highly active dialogue will examine how executive orders are reshaping governance challenges and will highlight the urgent responsibility of boards to take principled, proactive public action in defense of their missions and constituents. This research to practice dialogue will also focus on concrete action strategies for boards to meet this political environment with clarity and courage.
