Description

A Collective Effort of International Civil Society: How to Stand with Afghanistan at the Moment

The people of Afghanistan lost their voice and their fundamental rights as a human to the most iconoclast and oppressive group due to several national and international failures. The webinar tends to outline how disregarding local governance complexities has a bold role while evaluating the flaws of Afghanistan's state-building process and peace process negotiations. Also, it will state how women’s rights, a priority that has been rendered meaningless after the democratic era in Afghanistan. Afghan women lost their right to education, the right to work, or even the right to travel from one city to another. Afghan citizens and especially women, shall not fight this ugly battle alone, the international community and organizations have a moral and legal obligation to walk this lengthy and arduous path with the Afghan society. The very first step happens to be supporting vulnerable Afghans and helping them to reach safety, whose voice matters and has put them at risk, and help them stay in safety under legal protection. Secondly, collective condemnation of the Taliban’s current restrictions has been effective considerably, which needs to be continued to a large extent. The collective efforts can prevent the normalization of Afghan women’s current degrading condition both at the national and international levels.
