Description
In November 2022, the Board established a task force to consider some big picture questions for the ARNOVA conference, including issues of accessibility and environmental footprint.
We invite members to participate in a focus group to discuss their ideas, potential options, and tradeoffs surrounding these issues.
During a 45 minute zoom call, we will ask participants for feedback to consider members’ access, organizational and individual financial implications, and any unintended consequences of the following three areas:
1) Conference timing. How does the current timing of the conference (the week before the U.S. Thanksgiving Holiday) impact participation? Considering other conferences that you typically attend and other holidays, how might changing the timing of the conference impact participation? What issues must we consider on this question?
2) Conference format. Due to the pandemic, we have experienced an array of formats: all in-person, all online, and hybrid. What formats should we consider to make our conference more accessible (e.g. cost and participation) and environmentally friendly? What issues must we consider when determining format?
3) Environmental footprint. What other ways can we reduce ARNOVA’s environmental footprint? What impact might these changes have on our mission, our financial outlook, and our participation?
